IT Services/Dell Domain Consolidation and
Exchange Upgrade Project

Project Overview

The University of Colorado at Denver and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center have merged into one organization (University of Colorado Denver) over the past couple of years. In the process of merging, all of the IT infrastructures and services will be consolidated into one new "green field" environment. From a high level the effort involves designing, deploying new infrastructures, determining what will migrate and how things will migrate, and ultimately migrate the resources from the legacy environments. The vision of this Domain Consolidation Project and Associated Services is to establish a new unified organization namespace, Exchange 2007 environment and infrastructures based on current best practices as well as to take the opportunity to consolidate servers, standardize on server hardware/SAN hardware and software platforms, and address all the respective service requirements in an efficient and cost effective manner in order to better service our IT customers.

End User Information

(March 31, 2008) As a computer systems user at UC Denver you likely log in to the system regularly to access e-mail and perform your work functions. The mechanism that maintains your computer login ID and password is known as a domain. UC Denver currently uses two domains "Stargate" (Anschutz Medical Campus) and "CUDenver" (Downtown Campus). As part of our overall consolidation, these domains will be merged into a new domain called "UNIVERSITY." Ultimately, we all will access UC Denver computers and servers through this new domain by Fall, 2008.

To facilitate the domain transition, our Information Technology Services (ITS) team will be working with each Department to schedule a migration time. The migration schedule will be posted online at http://www.administration.ucdenver.edu/admin/its/servers/dell/calendar.pdf. You will not be caught off guard as these changes occur because your department will be notified regarding the transition date.
